The Girl with the Pearl Earring

I have always admired Vermeer, particularly his brilliant control over light and form. I was inspired to sculpt one of his paintings, his paintings already having such three dimensional quality. The subtlty of emotion makes it difficult to look away from this subject. I have always been impressed that Vermeer was able to capture the grandeur of “ordinary subjects” at a time when historical and mythological scenes dominated the artistic landscape.
