This sculpture is my tribute to the beauty and importance of love. I was counter-inspired by a story of early 20th-century students who destroyed plaster casts by throwing them down elevator shafts at PAFA. I wanted to mame something in contrast to that form of hatred and destruction.
We all are faced with a choice in this life, we can exert the effort to create and find something to love or entropy will take it’s course and lead us towards the senselessness of destruction.
When I conceptualized this sculpture, I considered depicting the figure standing in front, protecting the incomplete form. However, I realized the the most important part of the story is in the choice to love and embrace, as such.
I dream of making this sculpture monumental in size one day.
